Developing Small Scale Agricultural Enterprise

An apprentice program is being developed to equip new and/or transitioning producers to acquire the necessary agriculture skills to operate a small scale agricultural enterprise. The Quay County Food Co-op Exploratory Group is seeking individuals who would be interested in mentoring beginning agriculturists within this program. We will be hosting a meeting on, Friday June 8th from 2:00-4:00 at the Quay County Cooperative Extension office (Terry Turner Building), 216 E. Center Street, Tucumcari, NM.

Consider joining the cooperative’s efforts for the “BRIGHT and SHINING FUTURE of SMALL AGRICULTURE BUSINESS” in our communities.

Announcement of Two New Workshops

There are two new agricultural workshops that will be presented at the Tucumcari Convention Center in March. The first will be on March 9 and will cover agricultural resilience in New Mexico. The second will be a weed management workshop and will take place on March 30.

Interstate Stream Commission

The Interstate Streams Commission (ISC) has filed an application to appropriate surface water from Ute Reservoir to the New Mexico-Texas state line in the Canadian River Channel in Quay County. It also includes all water flowing from Revuelto Creek and other tributaries to the Canadian River.

Please read the attached letter from our County Commissioners to see how this impacts you. Also attached is a flyer for the public meeting being held August 17, 2015 to discuss the facts about the ISC Canadian River application.

December Board of Directors Meeting and Agenda and New Documents

There will be a regular monthly meeting of the Arch Hurley Conservancy District’s Board of Directors at 9:00 a.m. on Monday, December 8th, 2014 in the district office. The agenda is now available on the Agenda Page.

Also, there are two documents from the NMSBA dealing with the renewable energy study for the District. They can be found on the main Documents page.

2012, The Year in Review and a Look Into 2013

New Notice From The State Engineer’s Office

The State Engineer’s Office will have a representative at the Quay County Courthouse the fourth Tuesday of every month from 10 to 12 and 1 to 2:30 available for assistance. The announcement is available on the Documents Page.

Conchas Lake Levels; 1943 – 2012

The levels of Conchas Lake recorded by the Corps of Engineers over the years is now available on the main Document Page. It covers the time period from June 1943 to December 2012. It is an Microsoft Excel document so you will need that program to open it. Please advise the Arch Hurley Conservancy District main office if there are problems.
